Island Medical Associates, PA (“IMA”) first opened its doors in June 2002 as a one-man Internal Medicine practice, headed by Peter Kuponiyi, M.D. The company’s goal was very simple: serve the community with quality & compassionate patient care.

Since then, the practice has grown tremendously. Today, IMA has multiple locations, and provides services in the following specialty areas: Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Addiction Medicine. With two additional health care practitioners and a support staff of fifteen, IMA has dramatically increased its breadth of services and clientele yet its goal still remains the same.

In addition to offering outpatient services, IMA’s practitioners serve the community as attending providers at three local hospitals, five nursing homes, a rehabilitation center, and a long-term care center for the critically ill. Currently, IMA is working to broaden its offerings through alternative therapies, a wellness program, travel medicine, and adoption medicine.
